Scott has been using his Christmas present lately. This is one of the 2 boxes my mom gave to him. I was going to tell you what kind they are, but the box doesn't say. I believe the other box was oyster mushrooms. We're using up this box now and saving the other to space out our mushroom harvest.
There was a giant mushroom on the floor when we got to the bottom of the present pile. It was so pretty we thought it was a bow! It grew through the box and even on the wrapping paper! Scott brought it to the kitchen sauted it up and added it to the creamy mushroom steak sauce my mom made for dinner.
The box method is VERY easy. The kids love it and mist it all the time. However the harvest is pretty small, if you want LOTs of mushrooms I suggest you get the spores and inoculate logs. If there were ever any free time that's what we would do.
